A year later, I can’t believe we still need to say that. BRING THEM HOME.

A year ago today, Hamas committed acts of savagery so barbaric that there are no words to sufficiently describe them. We watched them unfold in horror, in real time. In 2023, not 1033. Not unlike watching the events of 9/11, these horrific images are forever imbedded in my heart and mind.

Since that time, Israel has been in defense mode, fighting for it’s very right to survive, with enemies surrounding them on all sides. It has broken my heart to watch the so-called “educated” West mis-represent what is happening and to see people in the streets of our country supporting Hamas. There is a HUGE difference between being Pro Palestinian and Pro Hamas. Do these idiots have any idea what they are actually saying when they chant “From the River to the Sea…” Has no one opened a history book in the past year? It is possible to be heartbroken by the suffering of the Palestinian people and committed to stop that suffering while also holding Hamas responsible for that suffering and NOT calling for the destruction and/or extinction of the Jews in the area.

My former teacher, Mrs. Skolnik, turned me on to a book written by Noa Tishby: ISRAEL: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth. If you haven’t read it, you should, even if you aren’t Jewish…..actually ESPECIALLY if you are not Jewish. Educate yourself before you spew ignorance and hate. Understand the background, the history, the players involved before you go all in on sound bites or Tiktok videos.

I grew up reading Anne Frank’s diary and believing in NEVER AGAIN. I couldn’t imagine that something even close to the Holocaust could happen in my lifetime, something so evil, so heinous could happen while “good” people allowed themselves to believe blatant lies, or even worse, turned a blind eye. But Never Again is NOW, it’s happening NOW. The people of Israel are suffering. The people of Palestine are suffering. Jews across the world are suffering. Because of Hamas. Because of Hezbollah. Because of Iran. Because of Worldwide Ignorance NOT BECAUSE OF ISRAEL. NOT BECAUSE OF JEWS.

Today, we remember the innocent lives lost on October 7, and all the innocent lives lost since that dreadful day, both Israeli and Palestinian. We demand that the hostages be released and returned home. We demand that Hamas stops putting its’ own people in harm’s way as they work to actively destroy the Jewish race.

It is time for everyone to get up from the sidelines and stand with our Jewish brothers and sisters to defend their very right to exist.

I am not Jewish, but I stand with Israel. I do not always agree with the decisions of their government, but I will ALWAYS agree with their fundamental right to exist.

Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah are evil. They are abhorrent. They are the worst parts of humanity. THEY are the enemy. THEY are the cause of all the pain and suffering. THEY must be stopped, so that ALL can be free….including both Palestinians AND Israelis.

On this day, on this sacred day, it is more important than ever for NON JEWS to stand up and speak out on behalf and in support of the Jewish community. It is our moral obligation to stand against evil, to call it out, and to demand it be eradicated. It is the very least we can do, and yet also the most important thing we can do. I stand with Israel. It’s time for EVERYONE to stand with Israel.
